I’m lucky to introduce you to Gerry, an independent creator whose work revolves around visual art and graphic design. Born in Mexico, he’s now based in Barcelona, where we first crossed paths at La Fira Internacional del Disc, held at Estació del Nord twice a year.
It was our shared passion for music on wax that brought us together. Spend a little time talking to Gerry and you’ll immediately pick up on his warmth, positive energy and good vibes. It’s that same spirit that finds its way, both directly and indirectly, into his artistic creations.
His personal style stands on its own, carving out a unique identity. Using his hands as his most primal tool, he brings an unmistakable sense of authenticity to his work, creating visual verses that speak to the conscience and invite us to discover new angles from which to perceive reality.
Visual verses that speak to the conscience.

His work conveys and celebrates a much-needed reunion between his Latin American roots and the personal journey of an immigrant carving out his own place in the world. It speaks of the struggle to survive, of the fight for freedom of thought and action, and of the desire to live fully in the present. Through his colourful brushstrokes, he breathes pure life onto the canvas.
If I were to dissect Gerry’s work and translate it into words, I’d say that, like a true old-school visual storyteller, he has the ability to distil the creativity of his own world and channel it with remarkable skill. Between brushstrokes, sketches and the raw, unapologetic expression of his character, he manages to turn his inner world into something tangible, authentic and beautifully subversive.

Congratulations on your work, Gerry. And thank you for sharing such an intimate part of your world with us…
